Map Reading Courses for Women - Course 2

Ladies, have you ever been out on a walk and had to rely totally on someone else for the navigating and map reading? Did you wish you knew what was going on? Would you have liked to be involved or even in control?!
How would you like to learn the skills and have the knowledge to be mistress of your own map reading, route planning and days out?!
Course fees are 130 and here's a quick summary of what we'll cover:-
- Introduction to map and compass
- Orientating the map correctly
- Map and real life what do you see? Looking at features, how do they help us?
- Estimating distances, pacing and timing
- Navigation strategies
- Taking a bearing
The course is good for those who have very little or no knowledge of maps or compasses and who want to learn a good range of basic skills whilst building their confidence.
During the course we will cover a bit of ground, around 2-3 miles (depending on whether it is an evening or daytime course), there will be lots of stopping, figuring out where we are (don't worry, I'll know!!), talking about all things nav, outdoor stuff and outdoor wees!
We will not be near a toilet, I bring a bag of stuff for outdoor toileting, emergency sanitary protection and poo bags (yes really).
The course is weather dependant I cannot run it if it is lightening or gale force winds. If this occurs, I will rearrange at everyones earliest convenience. Rain will not stop the course the going ahead, so please ensure your kit is durable.
PLEASE NOTE - The actual location will be finalised and confirmed nearer the time, but is likely to be in the south/eastern fells/countryside of the lake district.
PLEASE NOTE - this course covers a whole Saturday and Sunday in May.
