Mari Wilson
Mari Wilson brings her amazing eight‑piece band and special guests to Cadogan Hall to celebrate the release of her highly anticipated new album, Girl About Town, a vibrant collection of original songs, ranging from catchy pop hooks and soulful ballads to dance‑driven grooves, all shaped by Wilson’s distinctive vocal style and the musical influences that have defined her life and career.

Known as the ‘Neasden Queen of Soul’, Wilson rose to prominence in the early 1980s with her trademark beehive hairdo, unique style and 12-piece band The Wilsations. A mainstay of the pop charts, Smash Hits and Top of the Pops, Mari achieved chart successes with songs such as ‘Beat the Beat’, ‘Baby It’s True’, and her breakthrough hit ‘Just What I’ve Always Wanted’, as well as her heart-wrenching version of ‘Cry Me a River’, and fans raved about her live shows as must-see events.

Her voice has also featured in well‑known theme songs, including ‘Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps’ for the BBC sitcom Coupling and ‘Dance with a Stranger’ for the film of the same name, and career highlights range from playing Dusty Springfield on stage (which led to her hit 2016 album Pop Deluxe) to earning an Emmy nomination in 2017 for the original song ‘Moon and Back’ written for the iconic U.S. TV show The Young & The Restless.

Mari now marks 45 years of recording and performing, and this new show promises a memorable mix of fresh material, classic hits and career‑spanning favourites.
