Meet Louse Whitfield

Meet Louise Whitfield and discover how she married the richest man in the world.
Find out about he meeting with Andrew Carnegie, their tangled route to marriage via secret
engagements, parental controls/caring, their time together, Andrew's bad decisions, his
growing philanthropy, Louise's role in it and her control of it after Andrew dies. Their
philanthropy was integral to the Carnegie libraries in Shipley, Keighley, Ilkley and across the
UK.
It's been performed in front of Carnegie/Whitfield descendants, for whom it was the first-ever
piece they'd seen about Louise. ' It was fantastic to see our great-grandmother recognised in this way'
'How wonderful to hear Louise's journey and this tribute to her skills. But heartbreaking at the
same time'
