Miranda Sykes & Jim Causley Christmas show

We are delighted to welcome back to Sixpenny Handley Village Hall, Sixpenny Sessions favourite Miranda Sykes with her latest collaborator Jim Causley for a Christmas Show on Sunday 14 December.
Miranda Sykes, the acclaimed singer and bass player with Show of Hands, is one of UK folks most respected musicians. A career spanning nearly 30 years has seen her play with many of the finest performers in the folk and roots world. Her great musicality and sensitivity means she is an in-demand session player; while her crystalline voice has established her as a leading interpreter of song, whether performing solo or in a larger line up.
More than simply a folk-singer, multi-award-winning singer-songwriter and musician Jim Causley is an all-round entertainer and his concerts give a full night of beautiful singing, moving ballads, hilarious ditties and everything in between. Since the release of his debut album in 2005, Causleys unique voice and persona have helped him become one of the most well-loved and respected figures of todays contemporary roots and folk scene. West country father of folk Geoff Lakeman described Causley as possessing a voice in a million in a recent interview in the Western Morning News. Some accolade indeed!
Now Miranda and Jim have teamed up to celebrate the festive season in 2025 with some gorgeous West Country carols, medieval and secular carols from around the British Isles, moving setting of Christmas poems by Cornish poet Charles Causley as well as a choice selection of seasonal songs by contemporary songwriters on the UK folk scene. All delivered by two of Britains best-loved voices, accompanied on a variety of instruments and a dollop of festive fun! Guaranteed to get everyone in the festive spirit!
