Enthusiastic exponents of contemporary music, they pair an early trio by Shostakovich, written in the throes of teenage passion, and a late but lyrically life-affirming trio by Schubert, written in the shadow of his impending death, with Joy Lisney’s atmospheric Petrichor – evoking the scent that rises from the earth when rain falls on dry ground – which Mithras Trio premiered in a live Radio 3 broadcast from the Wigmore Hall in 2023.
