On May 6 Nate Mani & the Heavy Hitters bringing a night of live jazz infused with a heavy dose of uk groove. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Snarky Puppy and Anderson Pak, Heavy Hitters music have with rich textures, complex rhythms, emotive melodies and is always soulful. The last time the Heavy Hitters came to NHAC they pushed the boundaries of genre with fan-favourite covers blended with original tunes. There will also be 2 very special featured acts: London-based artists Zion and Siobhan are a musical force that refuses to be confined. Blending R&B, pop, and hip-hop, they fearlessly experiment across genres, creating a sound uniquely their own. With a mission to inspire and empower young black women, their music resonates with all who seek good vibes and positivity. Taking cues from icons like Missy Elliott, Cleo Sol, and Destiny’s Child, Zion and Siobhan pay homage to the past while blazing a trail into the future. Shalini Rani, meaning “Modest Queen” in Hindi, is a British-Indian artist seamlessly blending the smooth melodies of R&B with the improvisational soul of jazz. Rooted in the rich textures of Neo Soul, her sound is both timeless and contemporary-drawing listeners in with emotionally honest lyrics and a voice that speaks directly to the heart. Shalini has become a familiar face at jam sessions across the city.
