Trumpeter Nick Malcolm should be well known to Bristol audiences and has a growing national reputation. A fearless and inventive soloist, he moves effortlessly between completely free improvisation and blistering hard-bop. He is known for his work with Out Front, Dee Byrne's Outlines, Rebecca Nash and has recently ended a long tenure with the Jazz Defenders.
Nick Malcolm's new quartet assembles three great musicians who he's wanted to play with for ages, playing music they love! Digging into the treasures of Blue Note composers Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock, this is an unashamed celebration of the music's golden era in the 1960s and 70s, where swing and funk began to blend. This will be an extremely fun and groovy gig featuring four fantastic players of sonic depth, personality and passion.
