Learn chalkboard lettering and faux calligraphy, with Sharon from Calligraphy and the city in this 2.5 hour introductory workshop and learn this versatile chalk lettering technique.

This workshop is designed for beginners, even if you have bad handwriting this course is still for you. During the workshop you will be shown how to prepare the chalkboard surface, how to letter with traditional chalk and chalk pens. We will study lettering styles, learning how to letter basic sans and serif styles. We will also look at how to create script style using faux calligraphy, guided by the alphabet reference sheets provided in both lower and upper case. In the final part of the workshop I will guide you how to create your own chalkboard design, or how to transfer one of the tree shared chalkboard designs onto your chalkboard or hanging slate.

This 2.5 hour workshop includes a hot drink with delicious cake from MerseyMade’s cafe and a chalkboard lettering pack (RRP £35), meaning you can continue your calligraphy journey after the class.
