Paddi Benson, Grace Lemon And James Patrick Gavin

Paddi Benson, Grace Lemon And James Patrick Gavin
Paddi Benson, Grace Lemon & James Patrick Gavin’s debut project is a conceptual retelling of the patient ballroom dances that took place at Bethlem Hospital (Bedlam) throughout the 19th century. It is a blurred lines composition, in which the two sets of pipes speak to and layer upon one another almost like the right and left hand of a piano, rather than two distinct instruments. The trio have been praised for their emotional connection to their music, alongside their exceptional technical mastery of their instruments. Grace Lemon and Paddi Benson, two highly accomplished uilleann pipers, and James Patrick Gavin, an acclaimed fiddle player and guitarist. They have performed their work at venues / events such as Cafe Oto, the Lexington, the William Kennedy Piping Festival, and St Mary’s Music Hall. Grace is at the forefront of London’s thriving folk scene; Paddi is a graduate of a Masters in Music and currently undertaking a PhD by Design in Edinburgh; and James is a member of the acclaimed trio-folk groups TEYR and Gavin Fairhall Lever, whose work has been described as ‘The Sound of today’s London Irish’ by Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio 2. Together, they represent the best of collaborative creation and are a compelling new voice on the contemporary folk scene. This event will last approximately 2 hours, including an interval.
