Patti Smith’s five decade-long career boasts extensive achievements as a performer, author, recording and visual artist whose influence on rock music helped reshape the genre.

First emerging as a punk-rock pioneer in the New York arts and music scene in the 1970s with the release of her seminal debut album Horses, Patti Smith has since established herself as a prominent cultural voice. From being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, to winning the prestigious National Book Award in 2010 for her bestselling memoir Just Kids, to releasing her latest memoir Bread of Angels in 2025, the punk-poet has been internationally acknowledged for her contributions to music and literature.
