Pianist Rupert Egerton-Smith - Heartlands

Pianist Rupert Egerton-Smith - Heartlands - Saturday 8th August at 7.30pm
Described as a pianist and musician of the highest calibre and commended for the electrifying energy of his performance Rupert Egerton-Smiths path to becoming a concert pianist defies convention. He did not formally study the piano beyond school and spent ten years as he built a career as a strategy consultant.
Rediscovering his early recordings, he entered and then won several competitions, including the Bradshaw & Buono International which led to a performance in New Yorks Carnegie Hall. In 2020 Rupert made a major life transition to leave the corporate world and build a career as a pianist and composer.
He has performed in many prestigious venues including Paris Salle Gaveau, the Berlin Philharmonie, London Cagodans Hall and recently Carnegie Hall in New York where he received a standing ovation for his performance of Stravinskys The Firebird.
Passionate about innovative and themed programming in his solo work, he creates a unique musical experience for audiences through narrated performance, describing and contextualising pieces as well as performing them.
Rupert was appointed a Steinway Artist in 2025 and signed to record label Quartz. He will be releasing his recording of Water & Fire in May 2026. Further plans this year include the release of a composed album and soundtrack to the feature film Hide, recitals in the UK and abroad and performances of concertos by Beethoven, Mozart, Poulenc and Grieg.
