Portraiture Workshop

Through a whole series of drawing exercises, explore a wide variety of methods of seeing and therefore drawing the portrait from a live model.
‘Drawing is looking’, so in this one-day workshop you will explore a variety of ways of looking, covering structure, anatomy, light and shadow, the gestalt and much more, and utilise a variety of media and drawing methods to respond to short and long poses.
The tutor will demonstrate a range of drawing techniques and approaches and a step-by-step method of drawing the portrait from the live model, looking at both traditional and contemporary approaches.
After a short lunch, you'll move on to colour and eventually paint if you feel ready to, where you can work towards a more ‘finished’ final painting or continue to produce a series of quicker observations.
