Shadowed Dreamer By Stephen Hart

Shadowed Dreamer By Stephen Hart
A story of survival, determination and belief that will inspire you.

I was born in Birmingham in 1972 to a Puerto Rican father & English mother, adopted at 10 weeks old, then raised by a schizophrenic step mother. I was faced with a childhood that included physical, sexual and emotional abuse, homelessness and child protective custody.

Shadowed Dreamer tells a riveting story of resilience in the face of many forms of abuse and abandonment.

Always believing there was more out there for me, I refused to deny my dreams, going on to become a successful West End actor, Youtuber and Public speaker, working with The Terrence Higgins Trust, Mankind & 1in6, The National Aids Trust, as well as being a London Ambassador for Stamp Out Spiking. I also appeared as an advocate on chat shows, Britain's Got Talent and national news programmes.

During this presentation, I share the compelling story of my life and, by sharing my story, I encourage all of you to hold on to your dreams despite life's challenges.

After the show there will be a Q&A where there will be an opportunity for dialogue and a chance to share experiences within the audience.

Shadowed Dreamer was first performed in New York in late 2009 when I was approached by Brooklyn College and the New York Department of Education to be their artist in residence for three months. In 2010 the show returned to New York and ran for a further six months closing Off Broadway at The Bleecker Street Theatre. Shadowed Dreamer returned In 2025 to start a UK tour performing in London, Devon, Manchester, Glasgow and now Brighton.
