Pride and Prejudice Theatrical re telling featuring pianist Melvyn Tan

Saturday 22nd November 2025
Pride and Prejudice, an adaptation in words and music is the theatrical retelling of Jane Austens most famous work.
The enduring story of the romance between Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy is read by Harriet Walter in a simple but intimate drawing-room setting, in much the same way that Jane herself first read the story aloud to the Austen family and their closest friends. Weaving around those words is Carl Davis' magical score from the much loved BBC TV drama series of the 1990s, performed by Melvyn Tan (pianist on the original BBC soundtrack) and violinistIrene Duval.
Combining the words of Jane Austens most popular novel with one of the most beloved musical soundtracks of the 1990s, Pride & Prejudice is a captivating entertainment full of laugh-out-loud moments and wonderful surprises. The book has been abridged by novelist and Austen biographer, Gill Hornby.
Utterly delightful and wonderfully entertaining. Jane Austen fans will doubtless be in their element Limelight Magazine
