Reading Group - The Lonely Londoners and Way of Sunlight

Notable for its innovative narrative technique and linguistic freshness, as well as its ground-breaking subject, Sam Selvon's 1956 novel, _The Lonely Londoners,_ is an exuberant and optimistic tapestry of life in post-War London as experienced by new arrivals of the Windrush generation. The group will be reading it alongside Selvon's later story collection, _Ways of Sunlight_, which contrasts characteristically zestful tales of immigrant life in England with affectionately evoked episodes set in the author's native Trinidad.
