Armed Forces Day
Talk by Tim Kidwell OBE
In 2003, after the second Gulf War , the Allies sought to rebuild Iraq. The British Army (with the Italians and Japanese), in the South, was initially welcomed by the population. However, , as it became clear that the Allies were unable to restore the essential infrastructure services, that welcome waned and security became more of an issue, forcing the eventual British withdrawal. This talk will explore what happened and why.
The meeting will be followed by glass of wine and nibbles
