Box Ties The box tie is a versatile harness with a multitude of variations, and with a history more in-depth than any other tie. The arms-back position, tight restriction, and the rigger being able to tie from behind all add interesting mental layers to this classic type of bondage. In this class well talk about a few different ways of approaching the box tie, with a particular focus on finding the right tie for a specific persons body. Whether youre interested in a box tie for suspension or floor rope, youll find something in this class to have fun with. Pre-requisites: People tying: a solid single column of your choice. Some understanding of rope tension. Listening and communication skills.People being tied: Good communication from inside rope, awareness of your boundaries. Rope 101 Our well known 101 sessions return to teach you rope handling, basic skills and communication. This class is suitable for people brand new to rope, and those who've been to a 101 before but still have some more questions around the fundamentals. There'll definitely be something new for you to learn. Why not come along and take your next step on your rope journey? Pre-requisites: none Session 2: Tensioning Managing the tension in your lines is one of the fundamentals of rope handling, but something that even long-time rope practitioners benefit from giving more attention to. The tension in our ropes affects everything from structure to safety to mood. Well run through practice-drills you can take away to to improve your tensioning skills, alongside active bottoming techniques to feed back and influence the tightness of the rope that ends up on your body. Well also discuss finding the right tension for the right moment, the mental and emotional effects of tension, and when and how to let it drop. Pre-requisites: attending our 101 session, or People tying: Good communication skills, a solid single column of your choice, some familiarity with frictions. People being tied: Good communication from inside rope, awareness of your boundaries COVID-19 policy We have put a lot of thought into balancing the needs of those more vulnerable to COVID-19 with other accessibility needs. Our solution isnt perfect, but we will continue reviewing it as time goes to hopefully facilitate the safest space we can. We ask that you only attend our events if youre fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (unless medically exempt) AND take an LFT on the day of the event, with a negative result. We will check this on the door. We have LFTs you can use, please arrange to meet us before the event to do so if you wish. It is up to you whether you wish to wear a face mask, but if you do, please facilitate accessibility for our lip-reading crew and attendees by temporarily removing your face mask before speaking to anyone wearing a lip-reader sticker. It is up to you whether you choose to tie with multiple attendees or only one partner. If you come solo, please bear in mind that we cant guarantee you will find a partner at our event. Pricing Any profit we make on crew-led workshops is used to make our guest-teacher workshops more affordable for our attendees while still making sure we pay our guest teachers fairly. We offer flexible pricing for those with less expendable income, to ensure they can participate. We want everyone to be able to learn rope. This flexibility also allows those with disposable income to offer more, which will be used to offset the price for those who cannot, and continue running sustainably. Helping Out If you share our vision of bringing rope education to all, please get in touch at [email protected]. Whether it's help during the event, creating artwork, social media posts, or something else, any and all assistance in making ROH the best it can be is welcomed.
