The traditional Christmas family gathering what could possibly go wrong?
Everyone creates their own coping strategies or rules for living. But what happens when an extended family gathers in the kitchen for a traditional Christmas and they each follow those rules, rigidly? As long-held mechanisms for survival are laid bare, even Mum, whos been preparing this lunch since last January, becomes embroiled. Time-honoured rivalries and resentments will out. Accusations fly, relationships deconstruct, the rules take over. In Sam Holcrofts theatrically playful, dark comedy, the instructions are there for all to see, audience included so theres really no place to hide.
Trigger warnings: Sexual references, strong language, references to mental and physical illness
Please note that this production will be presenting an ongoing and changing set of written Rules on video screens both onstage and in the auditorium. These are integral to the plot. It is recommended that those requiring spectacles or other visual aids for distance vision bring them to the play in order that they can comfortably engage with this aspect of the performance.
