Ryedale Festival: John Wilson and Sinfonia of London

This summer's Ryedale Festival brings John Wilson and his hand-picked orchestra to York! An irresistible celebration of English music by ‘the most exciting conductor working in Britain today’ (Daily Telegraph) presenting a panorama of national imagination, from pastoral lyricism and sparkling wit to the sheer pleasure of a great tune. Vaughan Williams’s beloved The Lark Ascending is partnered by music of tenderness and charm from Elgar, Walton’s dashing portrait of wartime workers assembling a Spitfire, and the fresh modern voice of Richard Rodney Bennett. A glorious parade of British light music favourites by the likes of Eric Coates completes a concert full of vivid colour and affectionate nostalgia.
