Scott Turnbull presents… Surreally Good
Surrealist comedy with a Northern Soul. Scott returns to ARC for a homecoming show hot on the heels of his residency at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2025. Expect lo-fi animations on an old OHP alongside unexpectedly tender moments of storytelling. As the clock strikes 11.20 (am) the fine line between reality and make believe is tested, tampered with, and smashed wide open. This wonderfully weird comedy is putting the ‘Daft Cult’ into the ‘Underground Occult’ with music, poetry, two foxes romantically entwined, a vampire rabbit with a taste for travel and other unexpected tales of love, death and everything in between. Alongside elements of physical theatre and clowning, Scott Turnbull creates strange and beautiful worlds using felt-tip pens and an old overhead projector. His handmade animations and lo-fi special effects lend themselves perfectly to an interactive hour of absurd storytelling. Written, devised and performed by award winning theatre maker and nincompoop Scott Turnbull. Directed, devised and co-written by award garnering idiot Ed Gaughan. Original music composed by celebrated halfwit Jeremy Bradfield. Be entertained. Be very entertained! ‘Witty and Wonderfully weird’ – Three Weeks ★★★★ ‘Eccentric, heartfelt, and very funny’ The Guardian ★★★★
