Sewing - using a simple pattern to create clothes with a sewing machine
Please note this course is on a Thursday evening, however there is one change Thurs 4th July will be Tues 2nd July instead.
This is the perfect sewing course for you if you are a complete beginner or maybe lacking in confidence and wishing to have a thorough introduction to using a sewing machine, understanding basic sewing patterns and learning basic cutting and sewing skills. This initial course consists of eight two hour evening sessions in which you will be taken through the very basics of setting up and threading a sewing machine to making a simple garment.
You will need to bring with you large cutting out scissors, a small pair of pointed end scissors, dressmaking pins, sewing needles, a basic sewing pattern(see below for more info), cotton fabric as indicated on the back of the pattern (not stretch fabric), thread to sew with to match your chosen material, a flexible tape measure and white tacking cotton thread.
As this is your first garment, you need to choose a pattern that states on it that it is easy to sew. I recommend using a cotton fabric to start with as this is one of the easiest fabrics to see with.
By the end of the eight week course, you will have gained some basic sewing skills and have completed your first garment. I do hope you will join me for some fun, enjoyable sewing sessions.

This course runs for 7 weeks from 6 June to 18 July.
From 7 to 9pm in room W4 at Horndean Technology College. With small class sizes you will have space to cut our your pattern and a dedicated sewing machine.
