Shado's Bookshelf

Key themes of the book, particularly the ‘hostile environment’ in the UK, are explored, along with tools of resistance and tangible ways to help those who are targeted by the laws and policies which intentionally block people from accessing vital services. No prior reading of the text is required and anyone with an interest in or a desire to learn more about migrant solidarity is encouraged to join in. Along with Cowan, you can hear from an activist from a frontline organisation and have a chance to share your own thoughts and experiences through breakout sessions led by _shado_ editors.
_shado_ is a lived experience-led community of artists, activists and journalists united in the fight for social justice. it provides a physical space for those across different fields, who are currently working in isolation, to co-exist, working with a community of over 300 artists, activists and journalists in more than 50 countries around the world to spotlight and celebrate necessary and innovative stories.
Larissa Kennedy is a Londoner with heritage in Jamaica, Barbados and St Vincent. As a student at the University of Warwick, she is focusing on social movements in Latin America and the Caribbean. Alongside her studies, Larissa is a political commentator, board member at Students Organising for Sustainability and an editor at _shado_.
