Although many jazz musicians are also trained classical musicians, it is unusual for an artist to manage successful ongoing careers in both fields. US-based pianist Simon Mulligan is certainly one. As a concert pianist, he includes appearances at the likes of Carnegie, Wigmore, and Royal Albert Halls and his jazz bona fides are equally as strong, with composing credentials for both TV and film and almost 20 recordings covering both the classical and jazz repertoire (and watch out for his recently released trio album recorded in New York).
