Sister Suzie
Sister Suzie will be returning to the Country Soul and it really has been far too long. Hailing from the northernmost tip of Northumberland it was her love of singing R&B that initially took Sister Suzie to the musical melting pot that is New Orleans, carrying with her, influences such as Elmore James, Irma Thomas and Willie Mae (Big Mama) Thornton. On returning to the UK to continue her musical adventure she moved to Hastings where she now resides. "A little lady with a big voice yes, a big voice! Sister Suzie sings to the infectious rhythm & blues backbeat supplied by her fantastic band featuring: Andy Twyman on guitar, Linze Maesterosa on Sax, Andy Francis on Bass and Wes Brown on Drums. Jim Hammond & the Dandys
We are delighted that Jim Hammond & the Dandys will be making their Country Soul debut in July. Featuring a quartet of crack musicians, this is an all out country/americana outfit with a focus on playing original material with a few well chosen covers added for good measure. Band leader and songsmith Jim Hammond's own tunes touch on the universal themes of heartache, happiness and general life experience. As well as Mr Hammond on vocals/guitar/keys this fine outfit also sees CSS favourite David Doel on vocals/bass, Dave Gallagher on pedal steel and Kevin Boulford on drums. Dont miss this top outfit.
