Every year new objects enter Aberdeen’s Archives, Gallery & Museums collection. Through a combination of gifts, bequests, donations and purchases we continue to breathe new life and meaning into the collection, guided by our Collection Development Policy. The Spotlight display is updated throughout the year to showcase new acquisitions entering the city’s collection.

This display highlights recent additions to the collection including a self-portrait titled, Chaise by Celia Paul, acquired through the Contemporary Art Society’s Ada Award. It is an intimate self‑portrait characterised by muted colour, expressive brushwork and a quiet, contemplative mood. The display also includes porcelain ceramics by Carol Sinclair exploring memory, sustainability and the natural world, acquired with support from the Friends of Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums.
