Stirling Walking of the Marches

Stirling Walking of the Marches
Join Stirling's Walking the Marches – a historic celebration of tradition, community & heritage. 📍 Start Point: 10:45am at the Rotunda, King Street Residents and visitors are welcome to join this free event that celebrates the city's history and heritage. The tradition dates back to the 12th century, when officials known as Birlawmen would inspect the town's boundaries to ensure they were intact and hadn't been encroached upon. Led by the Captain of the Birlawmen, they would mark key points by turning over a patch of grass with picks and shovels. This year’s walk features live historical reenactors from Historia Normannis and combat stuntmen from Caledonia Combat, bringing the past to life on stirling's streets. After the walk, why not continue the celebration with a £30 lunch within Cowane’s Hospital (booking required - To find out more, please contact: [email protected])
