Supersonic Festival are very excited to host the experimental sludge metal force SUMAC, a project that brings together three musicians whose combined work spans the outer reaches of metal, noise, and free-form improvisation. Known for their crushing heaviness and exploratory spirit, SUMAC operate at the intersection of visceral power and fearless experimentation.
Guitarist and vocalist Aaron Turner, a central figure in modern heavy music, is best known for his work with the seminal post-metal band Isis and as a member of Supersonic Festival alumni Old Man Gloom. Brian Cook, whose résumé includes Botch, Russian Circles, and These Arms Are Snakes, anchors SUMAC with a formidable low end, while drummer Nick Yacyshyn (formerly of Baptists) propels the band with relentless power and dynamic precision.
