Join our Summer Band for ages 8-16! Monday 11th – Wednesday 13th August 2025, 10am – 2pm We’re inviting young musicians for 3 days of music making at Middlesbrough Town Hall, as part of this summer’s holiday and activities fund (HAF). Our band is open to all abilities, including young people who have never played an instrument, and all instruments (including non-orchestral). When you sign up we'll ask what instrument you play and for a description of your ability level so that we can make we have all the right music on the day. Don't worry if you don't read music - our tutors will be on hand during the day to support musicians who learn music through alternative methods. If you don’t play an instrument yet, or can’t bring your instrument with you – you’ll be able to borrow one of ours. Throughout the three days our band will learn to play 4 songs, as well as taking part in playground games, crafting musical instruments and other fun activities. This event is for young people ages 8-16. Our team are experienced in providing activities for all young people, including young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Our Tutor Team: Ben – Guitar, Bass, Fretted Strings, Piano, Drums/Percussion Sammy – Clarinet, Saxophone, other Wind & Strings Christina – Vocals, Keyboards, Violin & other Strings Although none of our team play brass instruments we will support brass players the best we can! Activities will take place from 10am-2pm on Monday 11th, Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th August. This event is part of Middlesbrough’s Bring It On! holiday programme, funded by the Department for Education. Bring It On! is the new name for the holiday activities and food (HAF) programme in Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland. Bring It On! runs during the school holidays to offer free, fun activities and food to children and young people aged 5 to 16 years. We understand that the school holidays can be a challenging time for parents, and the HAF can help with this. HAF programmes aim to support low-income families, particularly those in receipt of benefits related free school meals. If your child is eligible for benefits related free school meals, please book your free place on the EEQU booking system through the link below: https://eequ.org/book/musinc-summer-band-haf-with-sammy-18070 If your child is not eligible for benefits related free school meals, please book your paid place below. - If you select the ticket option ‘Non-HAF Child (No Lunch)’ you will need to bring a packed lunch on each day. - If you select the ticket option ‘Non-HAF Child (Includes Lunch)’ your child will be given a hot lunch on each day. Unfortunately, we cannot take responsibility for items left there, but we do our best to keep an eye on them. Relaxed setting Our events take place in a relaxed environment, and have the following features: - Our spaces have consistent lighting, with low level auditorium lights on throughout - Our musicians and facilitators have relaxed attitude to noise and moving around the space - A quiet, chill out space will be available should you need a break. A limited number of ear defenders are also available from the Box Office
