Summer Sings 2026 - William Mathias and more

David Wordsworth leads an evening exploring works by Welsh composer William Mathias (1934-1992), who wrote the anthem Let the people praise Thee, O God for the 1981 royal wedding, and which is on this evening's programme. Our guest will be his daughter, Dr Rhiannon Mathias, who will talk about her father's music. There will be additional music by Vaughn Williams, Grace Williams and Dominic McGonigal. Grace, another notable Welsh composer, was the first British woman to score a feature film. Singers should have some choral experience for maximum benefit from these sessions. Music is provided but bring your own refreshments.
