Talk: From Dead Salmon to Downpipe - How Ruth Leigh, Freelance Writer Turned to Fiction
Ruth Leigh has been a freelancer since 2008, writing for, amongst others, a radio station, several Christian charities, an estate agent, a florist and a trainer. She is the author of the Isabella M Smugge novel series about a pretentious influencer who moves to Suffolk from London, as well as a collection of short stories around minor characters in Pride and Prejudice, a book of poetry and a selection of her blogs from 2019-2023.

Years of gazing at photos of other peoples houses has given her a minor superpower. She can identify Farrow & Ball paint a mile off, hence the title of this talk. Ruth hasnt had the usual writers journey and speaks honestly about how she got to the place she finds herself in now.

There is nothing she loves more than talking about writing, comedy, literature and all that goes with it, usually while wearing a statement gown and waving her hands around a lot.
