Our summer concert,The Food of Love, is wholly inspired by the words of William Shakespeare. Jazz legend George Shearings upliftingSongs and Sonnetstake centre stage along with Finnish composer Mntyjrvis setting of texts from Shakespeare plays and a medley of music from Leonard Bernsteins magical update of Romeo and Juliet -West Side Story. The Shakespeare link is maintained with music by Purcell and a selection of English madrigals, sung by small groups within the choir. We then swing firmly into modern times with Eric WhitacresLeonardo Dreams of his Flying Machine and a couple of toe-tapping Gershwin arrangements.

We welcome Tristan Weymes as guest conductor. Our own Stephen Ridge will be providing piano accompaniments.
