When discussing American folk music, it’s most likely the first names that come to mind are Woody Guthrie and Lead Belly. It could be Said that nobody did more across the decades to keep the names of these alive than the grand-daddy of American folk music, Pete Seeger and the great Johnny Cash - both men being the main draw that built the famous Newport Folk Festival. Meanwhile here in the UK, our very own Lonnie Donegan was unquestionably Britain’s first Commercial folk music star, given that his biggest chart hits were a 50/50 mix of both Lead Belly and Woody Guthrie songs.
