The House They Grew Up In

The House They Grew Up In
Some homes protect you. Some never let you go. In Deborah Bruce's poignant and darkly funny play, "The House They Grew Up In," Peppy, once a promising Cambridge student, and her autistic brother Daniel, inhabit a suburban London home overflowing with memories and possessions. They are surrounded by a lifetime of clutter. Their eccentric existence is disrupted when Ben, the eight-year boy from next door, seeks friendship and challenges their reclusive world, forcing a confrontation with the lad's parents. The meaning of community is laid bare. A tender and surprising play that explores issues of co-dependency, difference and belonging.
