The Lindley Players present - No Sex Please We're British
Newly-weds Peter and Frances Hunter have moved into the flat above the bank where Peter is Assistant Manager, and look forward to starting a happy and peaceful life together - but their plans are thwarted by the unwelcome arrival of Peters demanding mother, Eleanor, and an accidental order of pornographic postcards, rather than the Scandinavian glassware they were expecting! While his mother is busy building a relationship with his boss, Peter enrols the help of his hapless junior colleague, Brian Runnicles, to dispose of the offending material and chaos ensues, with further unwanted deliveries of racy videos and exotic literature, and a visit from the regional bank inspector... This fast-paced farce premiered in 1971 at the Strand Theatre, with Michael Crawford as the frantic cashier, Runnicles, and played to full houses for more than 16 years, becoming Englands longest-running comedy. Directed by Sarah Hinchliffe Performances nightly at 7:30pm
