Then. Now. Next.

Five days. A room full of young theatre-makers. And permission to mess with time.
Led by Scottish Youth Theatre, Pete Lannon (Superfan) and guest artists, this creative hothouse brings together young artists to make brand new devised theatre at breakneck speed. The project invites participants to raid the past, wrestle with the present and imagine (im)possible futures, using memory, legacy and speculation as their creative fuel.
Across an intensive five-day process, young artists experiment with movement, text and whatever else they can get their hands on, remixing and reimagining past, present and future. What’s kept? What’s cast aside? And what gets passed on anyway?
Young theatre-makers then shape their findings into an unfinished performance for a public audience. Expect a glimpse of the future, made in real time…
If you’re an early career creative aged 18 – 28 based in and around Aberdeen interested in participating in Then. Now. Next. find out more here.

Whether it’s ‘our story so far’ or ‘our hopes and dreams for the future’ – our stories and imaginations can shape who we are, who we want to become and even the world around us.
Join us for Light the Blue 2026, where over 1,000 young and professional artists, school pupils and early career creatives from across Scotland will come together to celebrate new and emerging talent, creating opportunities and connection.
