This post-dramatic, post-truth retelling of Chekhovs classic takes a wry look at a canonical text and asks how and why we should be performing these characters anyway. In an era dominated by events in Ukraine, we consider the best way to approach a Russian play. Can we say anything useful, has it all been said before, or are we being too careful? Reflecting on women in war and the pity exploited by the media, we may or may not also tell the story of some imaginary sisters created by a dead white man.
