"Tosca," Giacomo Puccini's opera, is a passionate, political thriller set in Rome during the Napoleonic Wars. The story revolves around the opera singer Floria Tosca, her lover Mario Cavaradossi, and the corrupt police chief Baron Scarpia. When Cavaradossi helps an escaped political prisoner, Cesare Angelotti, Scarpia uses Tosca's jealousy to manipulate her and ultimately forces her to make a devastating choice to save Cavaradossi's life.
