Touch Tour: Sauniga

Touch Tours give visually impaired patrons the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the set, key props and costumes before the show and sometimes even to meet the performers. Guide dogs are also welcome on set, subject to an advance assessment to ensure a safe environment Audio Description is available via a headset for this performance. These can be collected from box office and will seamlessly blend the production with an expertly crafted audio description of the events.
Sauniga explores the majestic world of our earliest ancestors: the animals from the land, sky and ocean
– recalling the sacred connections between Aitu (Spirits) of the old world and the lives of their Samoan descendants. This live activation brings together dance, chanting and ceremony.
Seeking out playful discoveries and posing curious reflections on our relationship with
animals and the environment, Sauniga is told through a Samoan world view.
Created by FAFSWAG director Pati Tyrell, this cultural activation features Pati Tyrell,
Jaycee Tanuvasa and Peni Fakaua.
Sauniga was developed with support from Asia TOPA and Creative New Zealand.
