Why did you buy the chickens Dad? A talk on Medieval Markets to Supermarkets

Why did you buy the chickens Dad? A talk on Medieval Markets to Supermarkets
Thursday 24 July, 11am start. How did we shop in medieval times and how have things changed (or have they)?

This talk by Maureen, Sandwell Archives Outreach Officer, looks at the development of how we shopped, from medieval markets via the corner shop through to supermarkets and hypermarkets. Most towns still have markets. These used to be weekly or monthly, but the markets in Sandwell towns now occur more than once a week. Using images from Sandwell Archives, we can see these markets and hopefully bring back memories.

Free entry, book your place via Ticketsource or ring site on 0121 588 2985.

The talk will be held in the Great Hall of Bromwich Hall (Manor House) Museum, this is a wheelchair accessible room using a ramp.
