Described as a thoughtful, poetic player (Sunday Times)William Howardis one of Britains leading pianists, enjoying a career that has taken him to many important festival and different countries. His performing life consists of solo recitals, concerto performances, guest appearances with chamber ensembles and instrumentalists. . He has performed many times in the Wigmore Hall and the South Bank in London and has broadcast regularly for BBC Radio 3.

Throughout his professional life he has been active in commissioning new works and has taken part in over 100 premieres. He has enjoyed collaborations with many composers, including David Matthews, Pavel Zemek Novk, Howard Skempton and Judith Weir, who composed his first solo commission, The Art of Touching the Keyboard, in 1983.

Recent engagements have included recitals in Italy, Luxembourg and the UK and performances with the Carducci and Sacconi String Quartets and Quatuor Mona.

Described by The Strad as presenting a masterclass in unanimity of musical purpose, in which severity could melt seamlessly into charm, and drama into geniality, the award-winningCarducci String Quartetis internationally acclaimed as one of the most accomplished and versatile ensembles of today.

Founded in 1997, the quartet has won numerous international competitions and is celebrated for its mastery of the core repertoire, alongside a commitment to presenting new works each season and curating genre-crossing programmes that incorporate film music, jazz, folk, and spoken word.

The Carducci String Quartet performs at prestigious venues worldwide. Upcoming highlights for the 25/26 season include an extensive Schubert tour with Roderick Williams; collaborations with vocal ensemble VOCES8 and clarinettists Emma Johnson, and Julian Bliss; a Shostakovich cycle for West Cork Music, and a return to Londons Wigmore Hall.
