Woodford NT Outing to Hughenden Manor

Hughenden Manor
Tuesday 19th August 2025
Hughenden was the much-loved home of Benjamin Disraeli, this country's first and only Jewish prime minister, and one of the most influential and charismatic. The Manor reflects Disraeli's vibrant personality, his climb up the greasy pole of politics, and his close personal relationship with Queen Victoria. Hughenden also hides a secret wartime operation, code named Hillside.
There will be an included complimentary talk about the history of the Manor. Hughenden has formal Italianate-style gardens with a Victorian parterre and classical statuary, pleasure grounds, an apple orchard and a walled garden. There is a selection of parkland walks including a gentle stroll to the medieval church where Disraeli is buried. There is a caf selling hot and cold drinks and snacks, a gift shop supporting a wide range of local businesses, and a second-hand book shop.
