A free course run by Red Ladders Artistic Director, Cheryl Martin for those pursuing a career in the industry.

Sessions will include:

Starting from real life
Creating multi-layered characters
What makes good dialogue
Different approaches to structure

The most promising new voices will be asked to write short pieces (no more than 10 minutes) for Red Ladder.
These pieces will be directed by graduates of the Red Ladder directing course, and performed by graduates from our acting course in a final showcase.

Writers may then be offered a further development opportunity, receiving mentorship and support.

Please note, this is a repeat of the course Cheryl ran last year so not appropriate for those who attended previously.

This course is open to anyone 18+ living in West Yorkshire. If you're not in the county but you wish to attend do email us [email protected] and we will add you to the waitlist.

Please note, for this course you pay a 10 deposit which is refunded in your first session. If you want to participate but this is a barrier to you attending, please drop us a line as we would love you to come.
