Zios Ukrainian National Philharmonic
Something of Beethoven’s unique energy and free-spirited individualism resonates with these Ukrainian musicians, who bring a spectacular programme of music inspired by dance.

We’re delighted to feature in our season one of the most highly regarded Ukrainian orchestras, the Ukrainian National Philharmonic Orchestra, in a performance of Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony – a work brimming with exultant highs and hedonistic abandon.

We begin with Brahms in dance mode, followed by one of Mozart’s most elegant and joyful concertos, known to many as ‘Elvira Madigan’ due to the slow movement’s considerable contribution to the soundtrack of that film.

They include music by their countryman – Nebesnyy’s ballet has been likened to a Ukrainian Romeo and Juliet – and a spectacular concerto-fantasy based on a story of a little girl and her stuffed toy, described as an optimistic look at the future, a bringing together of humanity, technology and love.

“His beautifully cultivated sound at the instrument is especially striking.” Gramophone
