Teuchters Bar & Bunker
Always rammed on rugby weekends, Teuchters is an amiable pub on one of Edinburgh’s prettiest streets. The back bar holds around 120 single malts and their hoop of destiny game is great fun: throw hoops at the bar in the hope of winning a dram out of one of their rarer bottles. The food menu is well worth exploring too. From mac and cheese served in a mug to deli boards, via more substantial burgers and pies, the Scottish larder is well represented but not taken too seriously. The crowd is friendly, beer well-kept, the candles flicker: a pleasant place to lose an hour or two.
