Fanny Trollopes

The eye-catching art deco exterior of this excellent bistro has been a Finnieston fixture since 2003. It’s been joined by a multitude of neighbouring eateries since but that has only allowed it to float towards the top of the pile, not just for the area but the city generally. Food is a skilful blend of Scottish produce and French techniques: baked coley served with lobster bisque and parmentier potatoes, chicken supreme with Stornoway black pud, or venison saddle with textures of cauliflower. There are flashes of global flavours, too, such as Korean spiced pork belly. For a really compact place, it punches well above its square footage.
