This week's The Shows Must Go On! selection takes us to the New York High School for the Performing Arts

The Shows Must Go On! returns to remedy the closure of theatres across the country by streaming hit musicals for free. This week's show is Fame: The Musical.

Recorded at the West End's Peacock Theatre during the musical's 30th anniversary tour, this production stars Keith Jack, Jorgie Porter and Mica Paris.

Fame: The Musical is based on 1980's Fame the film. It follows the lives of students at the New York High School for the Performing Arts as they navigate their way through the highs and lows, romances and heartbreaks of young adult life.

Fame became a global phenomenon when it was adapted into a TV series which ran for five years between 1982 and 1987. Each episode began with Debbie Allen's Lydia saying the immortal line "You've got big dreams, you want fame. Well fame costs, and right here is where you start paying; in sweat".

The first stage version of Fame: The Musical premiered in 1988.

Fame: The Musical will be available on The Shows Must Go On! YouTube channel for just 48 hours from 7pm on Friday.
