There's a craft beer for every season and Christmas is no exception. We asked booze enthusiasts at Glasgow's shop of liquid treasures, Valhalla's Goat, what they'll be drinking this yuletide.

Williams Brothers Nollaig
It smells like Christmas in a bottle because it's made with foraged spruce tips. It's fruity, soft, pine-y, resinous, spicy, warming and great with food.

The Kernel Table Beer
This belter from that London Kernel lot is 3% abv​. Tropical hoppy aroma, zesty on the palate with a comforting malty / bitter finish.

​Camden Town Gentleman's Wit
Like a cup of Earl Grey tea and a slice of lemon meringue pie but smooshed into a delicious beer. Made with lemon and bergamot, this'll be on our Christmas breakfast menu with the smoked salmon.

Anchor Our Special Ale
This special seasonal ale from San Franciscan lot Anchor changes every year. Last year's​ offering was lovely warming cinnamon / gingerbread / toffee / honey but with a good citrusy hop finish. Expect the same but different this year.

Crooked Stave Vielle Artisanal Saison (Cranberry and Spice)
We can't get enough of Colorado's Crooked Stave barrel-aged complexity. It's got a lovely hibiscus / vanilla, almost ice-creamy aroma and plenty of dry fruit and cinnamon flavours.

Samuel Smiths Organic Chocolate Stout
This is our go-to wind-down beer – in front of the fire, with some Stilton. Cocoa-mad aromas, meaningfully chocolatey taste with a hint of malt and hops.
