Foodies Festival arrives in Edinburgh this weekend

Inverleith Park hosts food and drink extravaganza, with top chefs, artisan producers and live music
Scotland's favourite food and drink festival will commence this Friday at Inverleith Park. Yes, Foodies will return to the city of Edinburgh just as the festival season truly kicks off. In celebration of its 10th anniversary, this year will see a delicious feast of top chefs, brand new food and drink theatres, artisan producers and scrumptious street food.
Festival goers will have the opportunity to cook with a range of those highly skilled in the culinary arts in the Chefs' Theatre: Michelin-star chef Marcello Tully, Masterchef: The Professionals winner Jamie Scott and Scotland's Chef of the Year Adam Handling will all be on hand to provide some tasty tips, along with several top local chefs, including Mark Greenaway, Neil Forbes, Paul Wedgwood and Fraser Allan, leaving participants inspired to experiment with new ingredients, flavours and techniques in their home cooking.
2015 also sees a 50% increase in the size of the festival, allowing for Tasting Theatre masterclasses in chocolate-making, sushi-rolling and beekeeping, as well as a Champagne and Craft Beer theatre, an extended Producer's market with over 200 stalls to sample and purchase from, and a Street Food Avenue offering flavours from all over the world.
You can satisfy your competitive streak and your hunger pangs by taking part in the famous Chilli-Eating Competition (aim to beat the 16 million scoville record), or the new Spaghetti-Eating Challenge, the winner of which will be crowned Edinburgh's 'Lady and the Champ'.
With live music on the Entertainment Stage, and refreshing cocktails available from the Giant Pimm's Teapot and Captain Morgan Mojito Ship, attendees can relax in the evening, after a day of food and fun.
