New Cineworld cinema to open in Glasgow Silverburn

New 14-screen multiplex complete with Scotland's first Superscreen opens June 2015
Glasgow film lovers will soon have a new cinematic destination, as Cineworld reveal their fourth venture in the city will open on Friday 26 June.
Located at the Silverburn Shopping Centre in the south side of Glasgow, the new multiplex offers the first ever Superscreen in Scotland. Viewers can enjoy a wall-to-wall screen reaching the ceiling, dual projectors giving a brighter 3D experience and multidimensional sound with Dolby Atmos speakers, powered by 32 amplifiers. The Superscreen will showcase the biggest movie blockbusters including Terminator Genisys and Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation.
As well as big releases, the 14 screens at Cineworld Glasgow Silverburn will include a programme of event cinema, with recorded and live performances from cultural giants National Theatre, Bolshoi Ballet, Royal Opera House and the MET Opera. Cheaper than a trip to London or New York, and you can eat popcorn while you watch. For small cinemagoers, Cinebabies caters for adults with babies and Movies 4 Juniors screens re-releases of children's films for just £1.75 at 10am on weekends and holidays. Handy for the parent who's been out the night before.
The cinema also has Autism Friendly Screenings, subtitled performances for two new releases each week and live links ups to Q&As with film casts and directors.
As well as the standard popcorn and pick-a-mix, Glasgow Silverburn are upping the snacks game with an in house Starbucks and Baskin Robbins counter. If you want to plan your summer viewing ahead of the grand opening check out our previews of the ultimate summer movies.
