Film festival and RSNO to present 30th anniversary screening with Alan Silvestri’s legendary score

Edinburgh International Film Festival is celebrating timeless classic Back to the Future by teaming up with Royal Scottish National Orchestra for the 30th anniversary of the festival’s UK premiere of the film with a live scored performance at the Festival Theatre, Edinburgh Sat 27 Jun.

Composer Alan Silvestri has received acclaim for his work on a countless iconic films over the last three decades, but none more so than BTTF. The full symphony orchestra will present this expanded score by Silvestri with 15 minutes of additional music being prepared by the composer.

Newly appointed Artistic Director of EIFF, Mark Adams, comments: ‘This live event will delight and enthral in equal measure. As well as being a major event in its own right, this also marks the beginning of a new set of relationships with Scotland’s National Performing Companies, where we are placing film within the context of other artforms.”

The festival has already announced an exciting retrospective programme of classic American TV movies (including Steven Spielberg’s Duel) and a special focus on Mexican cinema.

Now with the opportunity to relive this classic, discover it on the big screen for the first time or introduce a new generation to the adventures of Marty McFly and Doc Brown, well, consider us all aboard the EIFF hype train, due for arrival Wed 17 Jun.

Tickets for 30th Anniversary Back to the Future screening go on sale Fri 13 Mar from 10am through Festival Theatre Box Office.
